AI & TECH
π€ Honda Scraps US EV Plans β Honda abruptly canceled 3 upcoming electric vehicles, including its first fully in-house models, just months before production. Citing eliminated US tax credits, new tariffs, and fierce competition, the automaker is pivoting heavily toward hybrids. This massive restructuring will cost $15.7B, causing Honda to report its first financial loss since 1957.
π€ Ukraine Shares Battlefield AI Data β Ukraine is leveraging its drone tech leadership by allowing allies to train AI models using its real-world battlefield data. Defense Minister announced a platform providing updated media to accelerate autonomous system dev. This "win-win" cooperation aims to maintain crucial tech edge amid a rapidly escalating AI arms race.
π€ MS Unveils Copilot Health β Microsoft is launching a secure AI tool that consolidates your medical records, lab results, and wearable fitness data into a single, comprehensive health narrative. Designed to help patients ask doctors better questions rather than provide actual diagnoses, the siloed platform strictly protects privacy and won't use personal data to train its models.
π€ Google Predicts Flash Floods with AI β Flash floods are notoriously difficult to forecast due to a lack of historical data. To solve this, Google used its Gemini AI to analyze 5 million old news reports, extracting data on 2.6 million past floods. This "Groundsource" dataset trained a neural network that now predicts urban flash flood risks across 150 countries.

CAREER & GROWTH
π Software Giants Defy AI Threats β Tech CEOs from Oracle and Salesforce are pushing back against Wall Street fears that AI agents will destroy the SaaS industry. Following a $1T software stock rout, leaders argue their decades of proprietary, deeply embedded enterprise data provide a protective moat that AI cannot easily replicate.
π US Labor Holds Steady Amid Economic Headwinds β Despite February job losses, US weekly jobless claims fell to 213,000, signaling that layoffs remain low. However, the ongoing US-Israeli war against Iran poses a major threat, driving gas prices up 20% and fueling inflation fears. Consequently, the Federal Reserve is expected to hold interest rates steady.
π Rebuilding Attention Spans β Average screen focus plummeted from 2.5 minutes in 2004 to mere seconds today, significantly increasing our daily stress. Researcher Gloria Mark says we can rebuild focus by getting quality sleep, setting daily goals, working with natural productivity peaks, reading immersive books, and practicing meta-awareness to catch distractions.

BIG THINK
Slow Down the Screens: Slow Down the Screens

Screens have become the central interface of modern life. We work, communicate, learn, and relax through phones, laptops, and tablets. Yet the constant presence of screens can quietly reshape our routines and attention. Daily screen time has increased dramatically worldwide, with many people spending several hours each day interacting with digital devices. Researchers examining digital habits have found that higher levels of screen use are consistently associated with lower levels of well-being and life satisfaction, particularly when usage exceeds several hours per day.
One reason excessive screen use can affect well-being is the way it disrupts natural rhythms of rest, movement, and social interaction. Reducing smartphone use for just a few weeks can improve stress levels, sleep quality, and overall mood. In a controlled study, participants who limited their screen time experienced measurable improvements in mental health indicators, suggesting that the relationship between screen use and well-being may be more than simple correlation.
Heavy screen use can also crowd out activities that support physical and emotional health. Large surveys indicate that individuals who spend many hours on screens are more likely to experience poor sleep patterns, reduced physical activity, and increased symptoms of anxiety or depression. Among younger populations, higher daily screen exposure has also been associated with irregular sleep routines and lower levels of perceived social support. These patterns suggest that the challenge is not technology itself, but how easily it can replace activities that sustain healthy routines.
For that reason, slowing down screen usage is less about rejecting technology and more about restoring balance. Simple practicesβsuch as setting screen-free moments during meals, walking without a phone, or designating certain hours of the day for offline activitiesβcan gradually reshape daily habits. Small changes often produce meaningful effects because they reintroduce physical movement, deeper conversations, and moments of quiet reflection that screens tend to interrupt.
A healthier relationship with screens begins with awareness. Digital devices are powerful tools, but they should support life rather than dominate it. By intentionally creating spaces in the day where attention is directed toward the physical worldβnature, conversation, creativity, or restβpeople can regain a sense of presence that constant connectivity sometimes erodes. Slowing down screen usage does not mean stepping away from modern life; it means reclaiming the time and attention needed to fully experience it.
