AI & TECH

Google's "Project Suncatcher" Aims for Low-Earth Orbit – Google is exploring a new frontier with its research endeavor, "Project Suncatcher." The project investigates operating AI technology not within the atmosphere, but rather in low-Earth orbit. The concept involves positioning AI data centers on satellites where they could be powered continuously by solar energy, offering a potential path toward sustainable AI.

Tinder's AI Wants Your Camera Roll – Tinder is testing a new feature called "Chemistry" as part of a push to revitalize the app. This AI-driven system is designed to get to know users through questions and will access photos on their Camera Roll. The stated goal is to learn more about a user's interests and personality from their photos, which Tinder hopes will allow it to recommend more compatible matches.

Australia's Solar Boom Unlocks Free Daily Power – A massive increase in rooftop solar has prompted the Australian government to launch a "Solar Sharer" plan. Starting soon, millions of customers in three states will be eligible for up to three hours of free electricity daily. The policy aims to encourage residents, even those without panels, to shift energy use to peak solar hours. Participants need to opt-in and have a smart meter.

CAREER & GROWTH

New Bill Targets AI Job Loss Transparency – A bipartisan bill, the "AI-Related Job Impacts Clarity Act," would require companies and federal agencies to report their AI-related job effects quarterly. This includes any layoffs, new hires, or reduced hiring due to AI integration. The bill, from Sens. Warner and Hawley, aims to create a public report detailing AI's true impact on the workforce.

MS Teams Flaw Let Hackers Spoof BossesA major security flaw in Microsoft Teams allowed hackers to edit messages and send fake alerts appearing to be from executives. This opened the door for sophisticated phishing, wire fraud, and malware attacks in the workplace. Microsoft reports the issues were fully patched as of October 2025, but it serves as a reminder to stay cautious.

AI Hype Hits a Data Wall – Eager to roll out AI? A new Salesforce survey shows 84% of leaders believe their data strategies need a "complete overhaul" first. Currently, 70% say their most valuable insights are trapped in siloed or unusable data, hindering AI success. Companies must now treat data and AI as a single, integrated strategy to move forward.

Amazon Outpaces Rivals in Tariff Price HikesNew tariffs are forcing retailers to raise prices. A DataWeave analysis shows Amazon's prices jumped 12.8% this year, while Target and Walmart only rose about 5.5%. The gap is linked to Amazon's large marketplace of third-party sellers, who lack the leverage to absorb tariff costs and must pass them to shoppers.

Beta Technologies Soars in NYSE DebutElectric aviation startup Beta Technologies raised $1B in its successful IPO at a $7.4B valuation. Shares priced above range at $34 and closed in the green at $36. Pinterest Touts Open-Source AI for Cost Savings – After a weak holiday forecast sent its stock tumbling over 21%, Pinterest's CEO highlighted a key cost-control strategy. He stated that open-source AI models are providing "tremendous performance" for its visual AI features, but at a "fraction of the cost" of leading proprietary models.

BIG THINK

Agents of Our Future: Designing the Age of AI Agency

In our ever-shifting digital landscape, we’re witnessing the rise of a new paradigm in artificial intelligence: agentic AI—systems that don’t just respond to prompts but actively plan, decide, act and collaborate. According to a recent study, AI agents are now firmly “at the centre of the global technology narrative.” These agents don’t just answer questions—they finalize bookings, orchestrate workflows, carry out multi-step tasks. For us, digital natives who’ve grown up with the promise of technology to simplify life and work, this shift is more than technical—it’s foundational to how we’ll live, learn and thrive in coming years.

Being future-ready means much more than owning the latest gadget or favouring apps over websites. It means cultivating an awareness of how agentic AI is entering workflows, influencing decisions and redefining roles. Survey data from 2025 shows that many organizations are still transitioning from pilot programmes to full-scale deployments of agentic systems. That gap between experimentation and effective integration is real—and it offers both promise and caution. For young professionals who are entering or already navigating the workforce, this means we stand at a threshold: we can either be passive recipients of tech change or co-creators of it.

So how do we lean in—turn the wave of agentic-AI into an opportunity rather than feel swamped by it? First: mindset. Rather than treating AI as an alien takeover, view it as a collaborative ally—one that scales our reach, augments our creativity, and frees us up for the human-sized work we most often crave: connection, meaning-making, innovation. Agentic systems bring autonomy, proactivity and memory to the table, transforming the role of humans into partners rather than mere supervisors. Second: literacy. Knowing not only what the technology does, but how it does it—its limitations, biases, data dependencies—is our duty as the coming workforce.

The infrastructure, governance and strategy around agentic AI matter too. Leaders say the highest-performing organizations are redefining workflows, investing in talent, aligning data and tech—precisely the kind of ecosystem that supports agentic AI at scale. Meanwhile, Millennials are quietly leading AI adoption in many settings, bridging tech fluency with human insight. That synergy—tech + human values—is the advantage. If we bring curiosity, ethics, creativity and resilience to this moment, we’ll not only stay relevant but shape how this era unfolds. Because in the end, the question isn’t only can agentic AI work—it’s will we make it work for our generation, our communities, our values.

And there’s good reason for optimism. The trajectory is full of potential for those ready to engage: to re-imagine workflows, to build bridges between human and agent, to use AI not as a threat but as a tool for agency, purpose and positive change. The finishing line isn’t fixed; we’re co-writing it. As Millennials and Gen Z, we’re not just inheriting the future of agentic AI—we’re architects of it. The readiness we build today becomes the opportunity we embrace tomorrow..
